PARC Swimming

The Flyers Swim Team uses a "progressive" age group program designed to develop the child physically, mentally and emotionally in a systematic fashion.


A well-defined, long-term approach of gradually increasing degrees of commitment is essential to reach peak performance levels during a swimmers physiological prime. The emphasis in the early stages of participation must be placed on developing technical skills and a love for the sport. In the later years, a more demanding physical and psychological challenge must be introduced to the training program.

At each level, the goals and objectives are specific and directed toward meeting the needs of the swimmer. The long term goal of total excellence is always in mind. As each child is different, they will each progress at their own rate.

Please note that the Head Coach may apply exceptions at his/her discretion for the benefit of an individual swimmer.

Intermediate

This squad is targeted for swimmers wishing to race well and progress into the sport. Swimmers have a good grasp on holding cycles, willing to race in all four strokes and events including sprint to middle distance events. Targeting State Times in multiple events. Minimum of 3 sessions per week, but we recommend 5+ sessions.

Development

This is an entry level from Learn To Swim. You will learn the rules of swimming, and introduced to dives starts, turns and training drills. We encourage squad members to participate in some meets and race night when they are ready. We recommend two x 1 hour sessions per week.

Senior

This currently is our performance squad. Swimmers wanting to make finals at States and targeting National Times in multiple events. Starting to specialise in events. There are eight (8) sessions available four (4) Long Course and four (4) Short Course. A minumum of six (6) per week including two (2) Long Course Sessions is compulsory.

Youth Fitness

This squad is targeted to swimmers competent at Development level. Do not want to compete at District level or above. Swim to cross train or for fitness. Focus is on doing laps and maintaining fitness. No minimum training requirements.
